Legend, as we were kept

Negru Voda Legend “founder” of the Romanian Country is similar to that of Prince Dragos, “descălecătorul” Moldova. According to popular tradition, preserved in Muscel, Tatars lived on the weather over the mountains, the Land of Fagaras, a Romanian brave, beautiful and wise. He gathered around him more lusty, who spoke about the sufferings of their brethren from the Tatar mountains beyond. Once you have pondered long, they decided in unison to support them; crossed the mountains and reached Campulung. It was a day of celebration. World much was gathered here. Their arrival caused great joy and they did not have the heart to leave his brothers. They sat in Campulung and were prepared to fight the Tartars. On the occasion of the fair of St. Elias, while load of booty, the Tatars merry, were attacked by Negru Voda; many Tatars were killed and the surviving expelled from the country. “Then, Black-Voda started to put things in the country; made fortresses, monasteries, villages and cities all foothills and river valleys “.

The name Negru Voda came in Fagaras in Campulung, tradition also relates the addition “foundation” of the country and its liberation from the Tatars, moving the seat and lift the church, courts and princely houses in Curtea de Arges. His wife, a Roman Catholic, is assigned to the church of San-Nicoara, which she had built up while Negru Voda was left to drive the Tatars. In return, Black-Voda had ordered the church erected without his knowledge, to be torn down.

… Then Radu Negru Voda Voda became

These are the main elements of tradition “Conquest” by Romanian Black Country Voda. When, from the sixteenth century, under the influence of historiographical achievements of Moldova, get past the drawing chronicle Romanian Country, tradition and new elements were added, trying at the same time, some specifications and identification. But they were more complicated than they cleared things up. Negru Voda Radu I was identified and appeared character “Radu Negru”; as the date of “Conquest” 1290 has been fixed; Worship idea was introduced voluntarily by Radu Negru the nobility headed by Băsărăbeştii Oltenia, which means the name actually Craioveşti boyars (“Băsărăbeştii with all the nobility something before Olt arose rendered all of came Radu Voda, worshiping to be under his command, and he alone is rendered all “).

To explain the presence of the ancient cities of the country seat of the Roman Catholic communities and Saxon was admitted, with “dismounting” Radu Negru, a significant immigrant population, Romanian and foreign, south of the Carpathians (“Radu -Black Prince, sea and Herceg pre Amlas pre Fagaras Lifted were there, with all his house and with multitudes “). Since the second half of the sixteenth-century documents attesting appear giving Black’s wife Voda’s name and attribute Marghita raising Cloaşterului (Barata) in Campulung.

The facts, however, advocates Basarab

From confrontation with the tradition data sources whose authenticity can not be disputed results:

Negru Voda, “descălecătorul” Romanian Land is not only a legendary impersonation of a gentleman who had actually another name. Most often he was identified by Basarab I, Nicolae Alexandru, or even both rolled into one person), with Radu I or Neagoe. Acts that are assigned to the tradition of Black-Voda: founder of the country, fighting the Tartars, founder of the first religious settlement, makes identification of the safest to Basarab I. The bravery manifested victories in battles with the Tatars, he managed at the beginning of the fourteenth century – a time when a political crisis stronger in neighboring states – to require the attention of other heads south of the Carpathians and to be chosen by them “great prince” . With their support, he discharged under the rule of the Romanian Country Tatar territory, removed vassalage to the Hungarian crown, created an independent state, which he won by a wise policy internationally, founded a dynasty that occupied Romanian throne of almost 300 years. Rightfully, Basarab was awarded the epithet “the Great”.

Black Basarab was told after removal Negro Tatar lands east of the Olt and to the Danube, the terminology turaniană called “Black Country”. As a symbol of conquest “Black Country’s” were reproduced on the Basarab family crest heads “Arapi”

REBIRTH OF A TRADITION. For over 300 years the wines of Prince Stirbey family are grown according to a core of well-developed principles, preserved by each generation. Our wish is to respect them and pass them to the future generations, as well: Discovery of traditional grape varieties. We are adepts of traditional grape varieties, evolved over the centuries and adapted to the pedoclimatic conditions of a wine region. Only there they can fully develop their personality. Vinifying them separately, we are only producing single grape wines, in order to reveal the individual character of each variety. Discovery of Terroir Soil, climate, flora and fauna, as well as customs of people working in our vineyards and in our winery, they all stongly influence the development of our grapes and wines – giving each single parcel a specific character – synthesized as Terroir or, in a profounder understanding, Genius Loci – the spirit of the place. Their aim is to convey this Genius Loci in all their wines.

Day 3: Targu-Jiu – Bigar Waterfall

The city takes its name from the river Jiu, which runs through it. In antiquity, there was a Dacian village in around the location of today’s city surrounded by forests. After the Roman conquests of Oltenia (101-102), military units were stationed around the roads that connected different important routes at the time. During the digging of the Târgu Jiu – Rovinari railroad, mosaics, coins, ceramics and Roman bricks were found in the south-eastern part of the city.

Constantin Brâncuși, who had lived here as a boy, was commissioned to contribute to a memorial monument to the fighters of World War I, called Calea Eroilor / The Heroes’ Street and was finished in 1938. His large sculptures are now the main tourist attractions in Târgu Jiu: The Table of Silence, Stool Alley The Gate of the Kiss, and The Endless Column. The latter is shown in the middle section of the city’s coat of arms. So you will enjoy visiting these precious monuments before Bigar Waterfal It was rated by The world geography magazine as no.1 on a top of 8 unique waterfalls in the world. It is very beautiful and definitely worth seeing.

Supposedly Vlad the Impaler was held prisoner here. Pasha’s Well, about 90′ deep, was supposedly dug by prisoners who were promised freedom if they found water, but after water was found in 15 years of digging, the promise was broken. Three large areas were used for various purposes: One of Nicholas Cage’s movie, Ghost Rider, used the bridge/ramp for one of his scenes, as well as some of the interior yards.
